Casino-goers, what are your favorite and least-favorite aspects of the casinos?
Casino-goers of southeast Michigan (and southern Ontario), I need your knowledge! TL;DR - What draws 21-45 year olds to a casino? A friend of mine is an interior designer for a large full-service design firm at one of their offices in a college town elsewhere in the upper Midwest. Her office has been contracted by a small casino-resort in a tiny town (population 1,000) 20 minutes away. The goal is to help them attract the 21-45 demographic that they're currently failing to draw, without alienating their strong 45-70 customer base. They're trying to draw people from the college town 20 minutes away and the larger blue-collar city 45 minutes away, and they recognize that in order to compete, they likely need to add experiences or features that aren't available in either of those cities. This casino is in a pretty rural area, which is a double-edged sword- there's little else to do (aside from those two cities nearby) but it's hard to convince some people to leave a city and go out into the countryside. This friend just visited Detroit for the second time last weekend, and thought to ask me for suggestions on what big-city amenities this small-town casino might be able to look at for inspiration. I'm not a casino-goer and have only a passing familiarity with Detroit's casinos, so I turn to you, Reddit! What do you like about going to any of Detroit's casinos? What do you wish they'd get rid of? If you don't go to casinos, what would get you to start? (Particularly if you're a Millennial or Gen Xer.) If you've gone to casinos elsewhere, chime in.
